Master’s Degree in STEM Education Offers Community and Innovation | Online Degree Lesley Siebel ’16MS, earned her degree in Educational Studies: Achieving Excellence in Teaching Math and Science (STEM) through Wheelock’s online master’s degree program. She said she was initially skeptical about taking online courses, but said she made friends among her classmates and felt a strong sense of community. She also found the curriculum to be innovative and very hands-on. “[The program] is heavily inquiry-based, so it’s all about discovery learning and investigating instead of someone just telling you about a topic,” she says. “It’s based on a completely different way of teaching that I didn’t learn during my undergrad program.” Siebel is eager to use her new skills to get her students excited about learning. “I love seeing kids learn,” she says. “They show you things you didn’t know.”
