Free Online Education: How MIT OpenCourseWare Brings Access to Quality Education

OpenCourseWare (OCW) is an initiative of Boston’s MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to democratize elite education. Through the availability on the internet of large amounts of courses, MIT core teaching material is free and accessible to anyone. And courses cannot only be reused and redistributed but also modified to meet the respective needs of each user.

Over 2000 courses and 17 000 lectures have been shared with more than 100 million individuals – a revolution that began in 2001.
